Don't be fooled---Not the same.

Pros:
Cleans Hard To Reach Spots
Cons:
New style breaks easy
Describe Yourself:

Bottom Line:
No, I would not recommend this to a friend

The original blue picks had a differnt brush which was durable and easy to use. The new tan picks have a brissle that if not careful will get stuck and break off between teeth. This causes problems to get out if no floss is available to help get the piece out. I believe that the blue pick was far better than the present one. :(

I ordered this product for my sister who currrently wears braces and her dentist during a cleaning gave her samples of this product. I who have never worn braces but floss routinely sampled the picks and have since thrown out all my old dental floss and toothpicks. These enable you to get to every tooth with ease, clean your gums with ease and comfort. These are fabulous !!! And a God send for anyone with braces or any other type of dental work. Walgreen's needs to get these on the store shelves.

My middle-aged patient came for his regular 3-month teeth cleaning appointment and this time things had changed alot. For someone who's been actively treated for periodontal disease this wasn't good. Due to stresses of life he hadn't been doing much oral hygiene except for brushing. He normally has some moderately deep gum pockets on the back teeth especially on both upper 1st molars which have deeper pocketing between 2 of the 3 roots. Gum surgeries weren't able to eliminate this problem. Tooth extractions aren't an option yet since everywhere else is normal and stable. This time around, however, the gums in these particular pockets were so swollen that when you touched them w/ anything it was just a bloody mess. A big, bloody mess. He even stated that it wasn't right. He knew and got the lecture because he must have forgotten what the consequences would be.

A couple months later for the next recall appointment the areas were better although the gums bled moderately. Gum bleeding upon probing is the first sign of gum disease (gingivitis) which eventually leads to gum and bone loss (periodontitis). Healthy gums never bleed... ever. So we reviewed how to use all the little gadgets in different ways to clean all the problem areas... talked about the different mouth rinses. You name it, he was aware of it. From the goodie bag he left with, I'm sure his bathroom counter was looking like the dental aisle at the drug store. I hate doing that to a patient but my hands are tied when they say, "No tooth pulling, no more gum surgeries. Period."

Finally, he came in just recently and I was pleasant shocked to see... NO GUM BLEEDING, even in those problem pockets! Trying HARD to cause those particular pockets to bleed produced nothing. Those pockets are still deep but they didn't bleed which means he's successfully removing the bacteria out of there! Everything was very healthy and stable. Being truly surprized and impressed I complimented him on his efforts and what was he using that made the difference. He ran out to his car and brought back these Doctor's BrushPicks and proceeded showing me how he use them. The guy loves these things. His long commute to work is ideal for him to use the BrushPicks and his efforts have paid off tremendously.

I'm a dentist and we're basically conservative when it comes to some of the new gadgets out there. When my patient actually gave me a BrushPick to use that's when the light went off in my head. You can read all the other reviews which are all positive and I can vouch for them. Sure, these Brushpicks may be too small to clean out really big spaces between your teeth and gum but the beauty of these is they are an excellent adjunct to what you may or may not already be using. Certain things work better on different people so make it fun and not torture. I, myself, really don't like to floss and I'm in good company since a large majority of patients don't like to either.

Now I'm trying to find out where I can get samples of these to give out to patients. I bought a package of them at the store to show and instruct my patients. So far the response has been extremely positive. You may think I'm a nut but on the other hand I do make a great denture!

Should be on the store shelves!
By DonVerified Purchaser from Virginia Beach, VA on 3/16/2008
Pros:
Cleans Hard To Reach Spots, Easy To Use
Cons:
Can irritate gums
Best Uses:
Daily Use, When you can't floss
Describe Yourself:
Parent
Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

This product does wear out pretty quickly, but then they cost less than one cent each, so if you need to use two, it is no big loss. Be gentle when using the picks, they can irritate your gums if you are too forceful with them.
They used to be on the Walgreen's shelves, but have been taken off because more expensive items are now available.

Doesn't take the place of floss, but it is much better than a toothpic and gets the food particles that the floss sometimes misses.

These pics are so easy and FEEL so good on the gums, it's amazing. I gave them as stocking stuffers and to all my friends for Xmas. I told them they would call me blessed once they tried them...and they have been calling and thanking me ever since. So many people are so lazy about flossing but these picks can do so much good, are easy and feel wonderful on the gums - between the teeth. I ordered a dozen just to have them in my cupboard so I wouldn't run out.

Hate Flossing? Try These!

Cons:

I never floss. I have used these exclusively for the last 2 years or so and my dental hygienist is amazed that I don't floss. Says she would swear that I floss at least twice daily and my gums are in great shape!

BTW, this review applies to the 'original' brush picks--not the 'new and improved' picks that have more and tapered bristles. The new picks are too soft and I find the bristles end up laying flat rather quickly. The original picks have 3 little bristles on each side. These seem to hold up better. I love them!

I have trouble with my gums and these are the best i have ever discovered for them. Safe, gentle, easy, portable, carry in small places like pocket, purse...
Even floss can't match these. Who wants to see someone floss at the dinner table? Who is gonna tell you about the green stuff on your teeth? Tooth picks are a staple at the table or anywhere and always have been.
Thank you for inventing these. I wish i had!

This has been by far the best cleaning tool I have ever found. I have given and introduced this product to many friends, family and others.
We are all addicted.
-Your teeth feel smooth & polished; dental clean.
-Tartar build-up is eliminated; especialy at the back of tongue resting front-bottom teeth.
-A great tool to work those hard to clean tight contacts.
-Helps in breath freshness, by really removing food you would never get thru brushing cleaning.
-So convenient to have with you- purse, desk at work, car & home etc. and not a chore or major process to do like flossing.
-Highly preventive in dental care. My gums are healthy, stimulated.
-So much easier than flossing.
-Your gums and teeth feel like you have just come from the dentist's office.

I can't really say enough about the Doctors Brush Pick !
I wish everyone would try'em.
Thanks for a product that will be a part of my every day.
