When this thing came in the mail I opened it and pressed the two buttons to turn it on and thought for sure this was a rip-off! I saw no light nothing. I kept around till I needed it and to my suprise this thing really works. I used it more often the the directions said to, I got a small bump that I was able to cover with lip gloss it never got big and swollen and was gone with in two days. I would recommend it.

Mine came with a faulty battery (9-Volt - at least it's not a button) which was NOT easy to replace. You have to disassemble the unit, and I couldn't get the top end (where the lights are) apart for fear of breaking it by yanking. You can kind of get the battery out and change it, but it's not a picnic to reassemble.
Still, it seems to work - and that's worth the hassle. (Just be sure you have extra 9-volts around in case of emergency!)

My girlfriend said I was daft to buy this online and that I should go with something like Valtrex to squelch cold sores, but with only a couple of uses it has already decimated two outbreaks. This product is awesome!!

Lately, my cold sores seemed to be recurring monthly so I read the reviews here and opted to give the Virulite a try. I'm so glad I did!!
Last night at the theater my husband noticed a sore appearing on my lower lip. When we arrived home at midnight I used the Virulite. By this morning, it was just a dry patch and so I used the lite one more time at noon and by this evening, no one could even tell that I'd had a sore!! I am truly amazed and feel that it was worth every penny!

BY FAR THE BEST PRODUCT AVAILABLE. IT WORKED STRAIGHT AWAY ON MY COLD SORE(S), AND I DID NOT HAVE TO HIDE IN MY APARTMENT FOR THE USUAL 7 DAYS.
I CANNOT PRAISE THIS PRODUCT HIGHLY ENOUGH.
I don't know if this works or the valtrex workss, but between the two of them I have no problems with cold sores anymore.
I see alot of skepticism about the infrared light. IF you don't believe it actually emits anything, get a digital camera, turn it on, and shine the virulight into the lens. Now look at the camera screen, the infrared appears at 2 blueish lights...so its not BS, it does emit light.
Stopped my cold sore outbreak after the first use.

I believe this product will prove is worth over time. It is supposed to be used at the first tingle when you expect a coldsore. I've used it once at the first sign of a coldsore and the coldsore never developed. Whether it was coinsidence or not will only be proven over time.
I have tried everything to heal cold sores quickly, but most are inconvenient and messy. The Virulite is easy, quick and it works. I felt the tingle of an outbreak starting, used the Virulite and within 4 days--gone! Within 7 days there was no evidence of an eruption. This is something I am going to keep around for a long time.

I have tried creams, ointments, etc. and this product not only was much more effective, it prevented the redness and swelling that is common with cold sores. I was skeptical, but now I am so glad I did decide to try it. One thing to keep in mind is the light frequencies are invisible, so it doesn't seem like it is 'on'-- but soon after the 3 minute treatment, redness and that tingly feeling of a cold sore were already subsiding. It seemed to prevent an outbreak as well as soothe the skin area. Well worth the price. Very impressed!
An amazing product that seems very high tech and easy to use. I've suffered with cold sores all my life and had to use prescription drugs for relief but this new product does the job within three minutes of use. Hats off to the inventors.[...]

I wish I could retrieve my negative review. The first two times I tried this, it didn't work. Now it works like a charm. I believe I agitated the spot by pressing too hard with the Virulite. I've lightened up and it really works!!!!

The device worked great for me, and I have tried every known treatment for coldsores.
I have read a couple of the feedback reviews, and am suprised at how little people read the literature that comes with the device. The light is invisible, and as such do not expect to see the two internal bulbs flashing when activated.

I bought this product when I was desperate for something that would actually work. I have tried all of the creams and the pills on the market including prescription stuff. And it only worked some of the time. But a friend told me about this product and i gave it try. So the next time i felt tingling or a potential cold sore coming, I used it twice a day for 2 days, and NO COLD SORE. You will not be dissapointed with this!!
NO light ever came on and unfortunatly I waited until I got a blister to try it.It's going back!!!!

I've followed the directions 12 hours apart for two different cold sore occurrences. I can't report any effects at all. I'm willing to try again but so far, nada.

First time I used it, I already had the blister & it healed super fast. Second time I used it, I caught the cold sore just as the tingling had started & the blister never came up. I keep it in my bag at all times (I get cold sores at the drop of a hat). For me it's been the best cold sore product I ever used.

It worked for me and my daughter. We bought two units, and have recommended it to all our friend's who suffer from cold sores. So far 4 have bought units, and all have been pleased with the results.
FYI - The light from the front of the unit is invisible to the naked eye. This is explained on the Virulite website.

Not too sure how this thing works and I'm still slightly skeptical. There's very little product info that comes with the device and you don't actually see anything happening while you're using it, except the green little blinking light that's telling you that it's been activated. But, when I used it on day one of what "appeared" to be another cold sore coming on, it didn't seem to get any worse. By day two, it was drastically improved, although not completely gone yet. I have absolutely no pain associated with it at this point either, nor has it continued to spread or produce any blisters either. Tomorrow will be day 3 and I suspect that it will be practically gone, if not totally gone. Like I said though, I'm not sure how it works, and it almost seems like you've been scammed because you can't SEE anything really working, but I have to say.....this is the fastest I've ever recovered from a cold sore in my life! It didn't even erupt into a full blown cold sore. So if you buy it, don't panic that the machine isn't working. Apparently, according to the technical information on the Virulite web site, the light is suppposed to be invisible!
