My 85 year old aunt has trouble getting out of her kitchen chair. This provides enough assistance so she doesn't feel trapped anymore. The control allows her to stop the lift when she feels high enough to push herself the rest of the way. She doesn't feel like the lift is springing her out of the chair without control.

Plastic operating handle is very flimsy and should be replaced with metal. Otherwise, rest of product is very durable.

I bought this as a gift for my mother. She really got a kick out of it. It does what it is supposed to do. It's not the best for use on a sofa. It should be used with a seat or chair with a solid (not sinking) type seat cushion. It has to be plugged in (one good thing is chord has a decent length to it) but bad is it isn't completely practical. My mom has a lift chair at home, and this was something I thought would be better when she visits friends/family or takes trips. It would've been nice if it was rechargeable. Another thing that wasn't the best was that the levers have to be taken off and put back on when packing/unpacking. I'm also worried that they might not be that durable. It would also have been great if it would have come with a carrying case, but we have to use the box instead. It looks somewhat comfortable but I didn't sit on it and forgot to ask my mom. Seems durable except maybe for the control levers.

I was in an auto accident and fractured a leg and both wrists. My couch was a soft,low one anyway and I had trouble getting to my feet. After the accident it was impossible. The lifting cushion works for me as I couldn't afford a lift chair.

This has improved her quality of life and also gave her some much needed independence. What a useful item! Maybe a water resistance material would benefit some people that face incontinence while rising.

The portable chair lift performs better then expected. It is functional and reasonably priced, replacing special "lift" chairs at one fifth the cost. The only weak point is the seat cover which does not stay in place, my M-I-L is going to whip something up with her sewing machine and I'm sure that will leave everyone happy.
