I use this everyday. It is the 2nd one I have purchased. I need the handles to lift myself up.
The handle (space between) are wide enough to sit without the handles squeezing you. After 9 mo. plus with regular cleaning the underside stained (brown) and although functional it bothered me so I got a new one.
