The thing about the patch is that it absolutely works when you are totally motivated to quit.
The first week or two is a little rough because of urges but as you get closer to the end, the urges will come and go as quick as a deep breath and a mental reminder of why you want to quit.
After about six months you start to live life not even thinking about cigarettes anymore. It is just a matter of both psychological as well as physical withdrawl.
I personally made a point to do everything I normally did smoking, without smoking and with the patch. That includes, driving, eating, going out for drinks and even being around people who are smoking. This may sound crazy but in the long run it helps readjust to live without cigarettes a lot more successful. Just my take and exper of course.
The patch unlike other systems works better I think because other systems rely on a person popping a piece of gum or candy for every craving which can be like smoking a cigarette. But, the patch is a one time thing that does not involve anything other than application once a day.
The key is you need to be very motivated and able to teach yourself to talk yourself out of the urges in the early part of the process.

awesome product, the clear version makes it very easy to hide. controlls cravings extremely well you just sort of forget about cigarettes occasionally while drinking coffee or driving i want one but the urge passes once i realize how far i have come. bottom line it seems a little expensive initally but when you figure spending $5 on a pack of cigarettes per day that equals $1825 a year. you are totally saving money in the long run. think about what you could do with that money each year. The 2 other things that really helped were making a list of the 10 reasons you want to quit and the major things that make you want to smoke(i.e. going out to drink, coffee, etc.) and try and avoid them as much as humanly possible eventually you can go back to these things but at the beginning it can be tough.
