I have only used it once, but I love this product, nothing negative to say here! I am a 22 year old african american woman, with natural hair (been that way about 1 year/give or take a few months). I had thick hair, kind of kinky, and very tight corkscrew curls that made my hair look so much shorter than it actually was. I read every review I could find on this product, and 98% of them were positive, so I decided to try it. Well I dont know what happened with the other 2% but it turned out GREAT on my hair. I left it in just long enough to cover my whole head and sit 2 min, maybe 10-12 min all together, but I didnt use a comb (I was afraid to comb my curls out), I just used my hands (w/the gloves on) to make sure I had covered my whole head. It loosened my curls very nicely (still corkscrew curls, just not as tight) and made my hair sooo much easier to comb through. Its definately softer and easier to comb through wet or dry.. Before I could only comb my hair when it was wet and had leave in conditioner in it. I havent tried to straighten it yet, but just from how it flattens when I tie it down, I know it won't be a problem. I keep my hair braided and/or with extensions, and take vitamin E pills to help it grow (my aunt is a hairdresser and suggested that), that's working for me. This really helped my confidence, I've never had short hair and was not at all comfortable with it. I love love love this stuff!!

I'm not a professional stylist, but I agree you have to read the instructions carefully before you use this product. It says, clear as day, not to over manipulate the texturizer after application. The directions more or less say manipulating it will straighten the texture. It will work more like a relaxer (or perm) if you "work it through" like someone applying a relaxer - so I don't think the product is misleading. I have very coarse, thick hair - let's face it, it's nappy. I don't use this word to offend, but I'm not biracial or multicultural - I can't think of a better way to describe it. We are talking regular coarse kinky African American hair. I used this product after wearing braids for 3 months - so I had lots of new growth as my hair grows fast. I look like a different person! I didn't want a "bone straight" relaxer and as a non-professional I was afraid to apply a kit to my head by myself. Although my hair is straighter, I still have some natural wave/curl pattern that I find quite lovely. It's very soft and manageable. I'm thinking of using this for a while instead of a traditional relaxer at a shop (I can save money doing it myself). Since it doesn't burn (I got some on my neck and ear, and it didn't burn), I feel it's not as harsh as a relaxer.

And FYI all texturizers and relaxers contain alkali-hydroxides. So-called no-lye relaxers/texturizers contain lithium hydroxide or calcium hydroxide which are chemically similar to sodium hydroxide (lye). Some actually contain lye, but get away with not listing it or calling themselves "no-lye" because it's a lower concentration. I am a chemical engineer, so I am familiar with the chemistry.

My daughter is bi-racial. she was very soft hair that is long and super curly. I used this and her curls relaxed tremendously. The texture is more manageable but maintained the curls and waves. I didn't want it straight. This was was perfect for her hair.

My baby is 3 years old, and she has long, thick, kinky, kinky, kinky hair down her back. This child's hair is soooooo thick in the middle. I tried so many things to soften and detangle her hair, nothing EVER worked. Everytime I picked up a comb she ran and hollered. Well the other day, I went to the store looking for another way, and I saw this! I must say it scared the @#$% out of me because it is too much like a perm and even the application process is the same as putting in a perm, but I did it!! Well let me tell you, her hair was soooo easy to style afterwards, the only thing is, my mom noticed and now she thinks I gave her a perm, but my mom doesn't do hair! NEVER HAS!!! And I realized I have to do this child's hair!! SO I say Thank You Just For Me!!

MIRACLE! My daughter is 4. Her hair is very thick. Forget about in the summer time when the hair is matted to her head. I needed help bad and didn't want to use a "perm" because of her age and my experiences with a perm growing up. This is simply the best product ever for little ones without harsh chemicals, breakage and worry free lye! Just told my cousin Alexis about the product last night and she did her 5 year old daughter's hair for graduation today and she too said it is a miracle.

I am a 59 year old Black woman with waist length wavy hair. I am not half anything. THIS WORKS! With my roots growing in straight I don't have to do a touch up for up to 6 months. The first application took 2 jars, now I only need 1 for touch ups. When I want it straight I blow dry it but I prefer a rubber banded pony tail after a shampoo. I divide the pony tail and put pink oil on it, when it dries I have long curls. I have saved so much money. I don't tie my hair up at night and generally misuse my hair, and have had no breakage. I will always use this product!Also I have found this product for as cheap as 5.00. But I am an hour away from town and MUST order on line because of the gas outrage.

This product worked well on my 5 year old's hair. Her hair was very thick and long, we had our battles every morning. It got to the point where I would braid it and keep it that way as long as I could just to prevent a fight. I was a little bit afraid of what the results would look like, so I washed it out rather quickly. It did just what I wanted. Her hair is still thick but soft with waves and very managable, I can sill braid it and put it in all kinds of little girl styles. She has no breakage and I keep her hair moisterized. I will not retouch until we start having battles again. I will be using this product on her 7 year old sister this weekend.

My big mama said that no styling product should be put into a child's head until the age of 10 or 12. My baby is five and I could not see myself combing unmanageable hair for another 5 or 7 years!! I love this product!!! It has made my daughter happy and has given me self confidence! I can now produce cute hair styles and she is not looking a mess at school anymore!!! I was hesitant about buying this product and was worried about what people would think, but like another poster said, it's me that has to deal with my daughter's hair. My daughter (who is African American) cried every time I had to comb her hair because it hurt her head so badly. We were both getting frustrated because I couldn't comb her hair, and I dreaded washing it because that made it even worse and the combing hair process even longer! My daughter has very thick and wavy hair that is fuzzy, dry, hard to manage and maintain, and attracts lots of dirt and lint. Combing and brushing her hair literally made it break off. I tried so many remedies and products for her hair and NOTHING worked or it was a temporary solution. I thought her hair was hopeless and deep down thought that my baby was "scorned" with terrible hair. Her hair always looked a mess and I know that kids would surely make fun of her because of it. Ponytails never looked right because they were too puffy and didn't hang right. I was running out of options and decided to try this. Believe it or not, this was the best decision I made concerning her hair. The texturizer was very mild on her hair and it didn't burn her not even once. I washed it, and immediately I felt the difference in her hair. She didn't cry and she even noticed the difference too. As soon as I finished applying the treatments, I styled her hair with no problems. It left her hair nice and soft, it smelled good, and she was soooo happy. For the first time, I didn't have to fight with her hair! It looked beautiful! Nice and smooth around the edges, and no poof. She has nice loose curls and waves and I can manage it without being frustrated. This is the best product that has come our way. I'm still not a fan of chemical on young hair, but I just couldn't stand the torture of trying to comb her hair any longer. No little girl should have to endure hours of pain from getting their hair combed. My daughter doesn't mind NOW, when I ask to comb her hair. And with that, I will continue to use this product.

My daughter has extremely thick hair...it was hard to see her scalp! Her hair literally felt like raw cotton. I tried this product and preferred it over your original product, less harsh. My daughter's hair is silky and shiney. I would absolutely recommend this to a friend, and judging how hard it is to find this product on the shelves; I'd say they already know!

My hair is curly with looser curls on top and tighter curls on the sides. I wanted to soften and loosen just the sides to match the rest of my hair and Just for Me worked beautifully. I left it only 3 minutes without combing it and I'm thrilled with the results.

This product was introduced to me just 9 months ago and her hair is "STILL MANAGABLE" since than, my daughter's hair was VERY,VERY,VERY thick and hard to comb through. I would hurt her everytime, this product was introduced to me by my beautician and she told me that it would be good for my daughter's hair "DO TO IT WAS NOT AT ALL HARSH LIKE A REAL PERM" and she was not lying. I can comb through her hair now it is softer, shiney, managable and most of all it did not burn her "AT ALL" So mothers if you have a hard time with your daughter's hair Please,Please try this on it and you will be happy and so will she. Also never let anybody talk bad about you or your decision on what you want to do with your baby's hair because you have to comb it everyday not them. Also never allow "ANYBODY" to talk about your babies hair in front of her because it brings her selfesteem down : ( So with saying that keep it condition and use a good detangler daily spray (Soft and Beautiful Detangler Daily Spray is awesome and it also conditions the hair) if needed through your 12 week wait and use "Leve" a daily cream condition (in a red and white jar" for daily use on her hair this keeps it shiney and well condition throughout the day. I also use a Satin cap on her at night that keeps it healthy to and as for you mom's on the go you dont have to comb it in the morning if your like me I comb her hair at night. Also wash it with "Cream of Nature Shampoo/Conditioner Detangler" as my mother did with me and my older sister and our hair is down to our backs. So happy combing........

My childs hair was very thick, and curly. It was hard too comb thru her hair, and at times I was pulling her hair out. I had to blow dry to straighten, sometimes flat iron. With this I use it twice a year. Every 6 months. I put it in her hair, and take it right out. It softens the curl. I didn't want it straight, just wanted to make it manageable.

This product did more than soften my texture. I left it in, after applying it, for 3 mins and my hair was straight.Thank God i only used it on my front hair. I have naturally thin hair and i was looking to have more curl and volume cause my hair shrinks a lot after washing or styling.

As I read the reviews it saddens me to see such negative comments. Being a licensed hair stylist that wears her hair completely natural, I found it to be a great product that allowed me to have the flexibility to wear my hair straight or curly. Often times many people speak negatively about a product because they haven't done their research and furthermore don't have a clue about the composition of hair. 9 times out of 10, people are upset because they failed to use the product the PROPER way. IF YOUR HAIR LOOKS LIKE A RELAXER AFTER USING THIS PRODUCT IT'S BECAUSE YOU LEFT IT ON TOO LONG AND DIDN'T READ THE INSTRUCTIONS. YOU OVERPROCESSED YOUR CHILDS HAIR AND SHOULD SEEK A PROFESSIONAL STYLIST. One thing they always taught us to do in Cosmetology school was to READ the manufacturers instructions throroughly BEFORE applying and follow them as directed. I received great satisfaction from using this product.

i was upset to find out that this product was advertised as a texturizer and softner but once i purchased it i found it was nothing but a relaxer with oil added to it which really upset me all the ingredients are the same as a regular relaxer just a bottle of oil comes in the box

After many years of struggling with my daughter I finally found something that has helped both of us. Naomis hard to brush curls have become more managable and look beautiful.....She loves her hair and no longer wishes for straight hair. I recommend this product because it doesnt take the curls away it just makes them more managable and beautiful.....

Would never use a product that falsely advertises. This is called a softener/conditioner when it is in fact a relaxer that can cause hair breakage, eye injury and the same warnings as a relaxer!

This product is no different than any other texturizer it contains sodium hydroxide with is the chemical used in relaxer and texturizers. Also the ingedient list doestn't mention sunflower oil. If you google "sodium hydroxide" you will find that it is a very potent ingredient that is even used to clean drains. (that not something i would put anywhere near my scalp) Don't ruin you or your childs hair with this mis-leading product.

The directions were a bit hard to follow but overall a great product. It worked on my afro and didn't straighten it out. It loosed my own curls and is still going strong. It did NOT burn my skin. I got some on my ear and didn't even notice for about 30 minutes and there was no burns or scars. I was quite happy.
