Answer:The first of the two Plan B (levonorgestrel 0.75 mg tablets) emergency contraceptive pills should be taken within 72 hours (ideally within 24 hours) of unprotected sex, including contraceptive failure (such as a torn diaphragm or condom). The second pill is taken 12 hours after the first.

Among the possible side effects of Plan B are nausea and vomiting. Should you vomit within an hour of taking either of the two Plan B tablets, contact your healthcare provider for directions.
