In an arena where demands for quality and innovation are relentless, we've continued to develop new technologies, new systems and new ways to maintain our position as the nation's leading pharmacy. As the fourteenth largest retailer in the country, we have invested more than $1 billion in advanced systems and technology, as well as new and remodeled stores and distribution centers. Advanced technology, wise investments and forward-looking professionals keep us on the leading edge.
When it comes to leading-edge technology, we lead the way.
We knew technology could help make us America's #1 pharmacy. Some of Walgreens technological innovations include:
- In 1981, we were the first in the industry to install a pharmacy computer system, called Intercom. Back then, it was a risk. Today, it's one of the reasons we remain the leader
- We were the first drugstore chain to equip stores with VSAT satellite communication and install point-of-sale scanning chainwide.
- Walgreens is the largest private user of satellite transmission data in the world, second only to the U. S. Government.
- Right now, we're developing more industry-advancing products. Our commitment to complex and diverse technologies, such as client/server, AS/400, frame-relay, telephony and satellite, keeps our customers delighted and gives you the chance to work with the latest, most important innovations
And here's how we're making sure that Walgreens stays in the lead.
We're busy creating and implementing a new generation of technological breakthroughs that will keep Walgreens well ahead of the pack. To find out about Walgreens newest technological innovations, click on the subjects below.
