It's more than a job it's 3 ways to help you reach your financial goals.
1. Share Walgreens
Share Walgreens is a stock purchase/stock option plan that allows you to purchase stock in the future at today's prices, usually to your advantage.
Here's how it works:
1. First, you purchase Walgreens common stock through Share Walgreens up to 10% of your salary at maximum eligibility paying by cash or through Company financing.
2. Then you receive stock options the right to purchase more shares of Company stock in the future at a fixed rate.
3. When you feel the time to buy is right, you can exercise your options by buying more stock at the fixed rate when vested.
Here's an example of how one pharmacist turned $21,000 into $207,000 in just over eight years.
1. On three occasions during the past eight years, the pharmacist purchased common stock. Each purchase was equal to 10% of her salary and together totaled $21,000.
2. This pharmacist was granted 4,272 options over the eight-year period.
3. If the pharmacist exercised her options and sold all those shares on January 1, 2001, that initial investment of $21,000 would have appreciated 886% to $207,000.
2. Stock Purchase Plan
Don't let the similar-sounding terminology for our "Share Walgreens" stock option plan and that of our Stock Purchase Plan confuse you. Despite the fact that they both deal with Walgreens stock, they are separate programs.
Our Stock Purchase Plan gives you the opportunity to buy Walgreens stock at a 10% discount with no brokers' fees. This financial advantage, when compounded over time, can add up to substantial savings for you. And if you factor in the performance of Walgreens stock over time, your initial investment has the potential to multiply dramatically.
Here's what a $10,000 investment would be worth after twenty years* and seven stock splits:
3. Profit Sharing Plan Walgreens 401(k)
You contribute 2% of your annual salary through our Profit Sharing Plans. Once you reach a certain salary level each year, your contribution increases to 5%. The company then matches that contribution, based on Company profits for that year.
Consistently Generous…and profitable
For every $1 contributed by an employee, the Walgreens Profit Sharing Plan provides one of the highest matches of all Fortune 100 companies.
Here's an example of how one pharmacist accumulated $443,00 in 25 years.
1. The pharmacist contributed 2% and when applicable, 5% of his salary over 25 years, investing the account value in the Conservative Stock/Bond Fund. (Other types are also available.)
2. With personal contributions, company-matched funds and earning, the pharmacist has a Profit Sharing account worth $443,000 after 25 years of service, as of January 1, 2001.
Three great options. Three opportunities to invest in a more financially secure future to make your money work harder for you. Three measurable benefits that can help you make your pharmacy career pay off.
